An Aliens perspective on Art

For me Art has the same formula as Communication. A Sender with a message, A Distance, and a Receiver. Exactly the same formula as when we talk with another person.
In music we can feel the message behind the music, the wish and intention to express an emotion for the receiver...For that the Musician also needs some technique so he can transform his emotional feeling to waveforms through his instrument.

Art is a way to effect other people by different emotional tone levels..The big question is if the Artist have an interest to communicate with his work of Art, or if he just search for other peoples acknowledges, the Glory, or maybe he is not even awared that he actually communicates something...

The great thing when we communicate with Art is that we can create a bigger impact to the viewer because we can integrate our messages with colours, different techniques, sound, light, etc and give the viewer more perceptions triggered, and therefore a more powerful impact.. When i talk about the spirituell aspects i talk about the intention and the feelings that we INCLUDE in our work of Art,

So from an Alien perspective i think that the wish to communicate something and the spirituell intention that is included in our work is definately as important as a good technique, because otherwise its likely as taking part of an empty perfectly made message without any meaning or intention...
And i think Homo Sapiens feels the difference...;-) / Blitz

Very well said my friend....The Arts is definately a way of communicating.. its an outlet for your messages or mood... its a way of expressing emotion, feelings when words cant... I think sometimes people forget what personal thoughts go into art.. and just think thats "nice" or "what on earth is that supposed to be!" not take the time to really look at it.... Behind every piece of art is a message that the artist is trying to get out.. whether its sharing something that has happend in their lives, or an emotion.. a feeling... there is always a reason behind the image... :D

Thank you, for saying what needed to be said.. You have expressed it very well. I sometime have a hard time with words, they do not always come out the way I want.. I use my art to express what I cannot say with words.

well said and very true! There is always intent and purpose behind every image! Some are much harder to read than others. But i dont think the 'hidden message' and emotions behind my work are very subtle when it comes to my recent images! Although the stories i create about and around the image whilst im working always lends a helping hand to increase the depth of an image!

Yes indeed. An artist definately uses their artwork to express themselves. I consider my artwork an extension of my feelings. A way to represent my emotions through creation. When I am looking at another artists work, I don't just "look" at it...I "examine" it. I try to "feel" the image. Remember....when Pablo Picaso first started painting, everyone thought he painted no better than a child! I guess we should all take the time to fully try to understand, and appreciate an artists work. Like a wise man once said: "You can please some of them most of the time, and you can please most of them some of the time, but you can't please all of them, all of the time". Thanks for the perspective Tommy. Have a wonderful day! =0) Randy

The problem we have here is that few bother to look for emotion. If we want our images considered more deeply, we need to give a little nudge, but not too big, or we end up preachin' on the soap box.

The trouble that I have is that what I am really feeling rarely is what others want to accept. Just like I can put on a face for school and work, I can put on a face in the images I upload. The disturbing thing about it is that the few images that I don't wear a mask when creating are always knocked off first with the least response. What kind of corruption do we put up with???

Perhaps we should have an "Aliens Perspective" contest that bends the rules of art. Appealing in an unusual sense; rewriting the books (whatever that may mean, either to be decided my the moderators ahead of time or the authors during the contest).

Great discussion and good point of views. I love the idea about an "Alien Perpective" contest (but I'm not sure I'll have time to contribute as always. One small point to add. I don't feel this as an "alien perspective on art" rather much a human perspective I'd say. But don't worry I got the point as far as I know... ^_^

Cheers,

I think its very important that we are truthful to ourself in our work of Art cause in the end we cant do so much about how other people react on our images or what taste they migh have...

I have seen too many good Artists that have got lost in all kinds of rules and other peoples opinions because they get hooked about the idea how they should do to make other people to like and accept them, and that became more important than to be lojal to their own personal idea about what they REALLY wanted to express.I dont think thats a Solid ground to build our work on...

I think sometimes we migh be too focused about what other people think about our work, maybe we should think a little more about WHY we do it instead.
Thanks for all the interesting comments!
