Just wondering if it's necessary to give access to the Hall of Shame comments? The last couple have been way beyond what I'd want any young person on here to view, let alone the rest of us. Not sure I understand the purpose of removing a comment but still giving access to it?
By the way Caedes, it is a felony to threaten a life on the internet. I'd pursue and prosecute or at the very least put the fear of something in them. Been there, done that, and had success.
I also agree...those obscenities are not even worthy of posting in the Hall of Shame...and it seems to me, the Hall of Shame should be reserved for legitimate members who just happened to get out of control some time...not for some sickos just looking for attention.:Pat.
Ok now I can get on my soap box. I agree that the comments should be removed, no need to tempt the young ones with the childish and vulgar remarks posted. I would take it a step further after a warning a member about their behavior I would remove there account if they can't behave. This site one of the best I have found as far as community spirit goes and allowing trash to be continually posted will damage the spirit of this site. I know that there are some things that the Admin’s of this site may be limited to. But I’m sure if they work together they can minimize the amount of filth that this community is subjected to.
I was just thinking about this very thing! It seems to me that to move an offensive or rude comment to a "Hall of Shame" location would be for some almost a glorification in itself. It actually calls more attention to the offensive comment. I agree that simply deleting the comment altogether or placing a comment in it's place such as "Membername's comment has been deemed inappropriate and has been removed" or the like would be more effective.
I agree with you, Rebecca. Some people enjoy being "the bad boy/girl." Delete the inappropriate comments, making rote notation that they were deleted for their inappropriate content. In my humble opinion, the focus here should be on the huge amount of positive energy here rather than the small amount of negative.

Well said Rebecca. Some members and contributers that we know, have made rash, thoughtless statements that seem like fit throwing (to me anyway) and those have always been put into the hall of shame where they can be seen.
But those attention grabbing, juvenile notes that get thrown in just so that some looser can type a few seconds of pornography should just be wiped out clean; icons, profile page and all. There's no reason to refer back to them within the context of a discussion or image since they don't tend to have anything to do with either.
They are just crank phone calls that should be hung up on. If that IS their pattern and profile, block the number
The "Hall of Shame" is only accesible from the particular post that was deleted. A link is provided in the place of the offensive post. See here for an example.
Thank you Bj,Dreamer 100 and canoeGuru for leading me in that direction I had to see it to believe that someone would be so low.Leaving a negative comment about ones work is one thing sometimes a little dose of reality is good for you and gives you a hint of where to improve. To leave a comment such as that in uncalled for for any reason.
Schools out and the little children must play hopefuly that child will no longer be posting here.
It would be hard to IP ban a dial up user being the IP changes with each connection to their ISP. One would haev to ban a range of IPs possibly causing someone that didn't havew anything to do with stuf like that to also be punished. I do agree that things like that are horrible but how is one to deny someone access to a public web site for abuse?
I have never received confirmation whether IP banning was possible here or not. I've only known of one deleted account since I've been here but have no idea how it was accomplished and have not asked. I've never been disappointed in the time frame it takes for complaints to be handled (thank you) and these comments are always seen within seconds of posting by someone. So, the glory only lasts as long as the comment is available for the attention. If we can't kick 'em where the sun doesn't shine, then we can at least put their coments there?
Yes, I do have the capability to IP ban people, however I only use it as a last resort. I'm still mulling over the idea of restricting access to 'shamed' comments though. I'll let everyone know here if I decide to change the policy.
I hope you can come up with something a bit more community friendly. I'd still like to have access if it's pertinant to the conversation or arguement. The last few havn't had anything to do with anything and just needed to be tossed out like garbage.
