" Join the Cadre " unable to pay without having a PayPal account

I wanted to " join the Cadre " lately but i cannot pay without having a PayPal account which is annoying, i do not need a PayPal account. From what i have seen, you can pay without having a PayPal account but you have to live in the same country as the seller which was not the case before but PayPal has changed its policy.

Jerome, I'm in the Cadre and don't have a PayPal account. I won't have one on principal. There is an option where you just use your credit card but you do not have to join PayPal.

Hello Steve, thanks for the input, i tried again and i could pay without having a PayPal account but i had to change the URL in the address bar otherwise it does not work, it says you have to log in to PayPal or create an account, you can give personal information ( name, credit card, phone number, email address ) but when you try to pay, it does not work ( i tried several times ) ( it did not work before either ) , you have to create an account.

".. i tried again and i could pay without having a PayPal account but i had to change the URL in the address bar otherwise it does not work.. ."

You have me curious here, Jerome.

How exactly did you change the URL to get things to work for you?

... ...

Oh, and I PM'd *caedes with a link to this thread. Simply towards the ends of apprising him.

Thanks for the input, Les. In the past, you could pay without having a PayPal account but PayPal changed its policy and you can no longer pay without having a PayPal account ( unless you " change the URL in the address bar " ) , some people ( consumers and online merchants ) talked about that on the internet, they confirmed that you can no longer pay without having a PayPal account.

I will pm you later.

I did a test run - When I click on Join the Cadre I am given the option to use a Paypal account OR "Pay with debit or credit card". I never went any further so can not say if the credit card option works.
From memory I think this is how it has always been for me in this country (?)

I use a Paypal account for most online payments as I consider it a safer option than providing my credit card details to individual businesses. . My Paypal account is linked to my credit card account so therefore I believe I have not only the protection of PayPal but also my credit card's fraud protection.

Below is a link to Paypal (It has no date so don't know how old it is) that gives the information that "For new buyers, signing up for a PayPal account is now optional." It described the method using credit card details. You can either use these details as a 'one off' or have them remembered which creates a PayPal account. I can't see any benefit in not keeping the info for an account - they already have your details anyway.

Thank you for the reply, i state it again, you can not pay without having or creating a PayPal account, i tried several times before but it never worked ( see my comment above : ( consumers and online merchants ) talked about that on the internet, they confirmed that you can no longer pay without having a PayPal account. )

When you have entered the correct information ( name, address, credit card, phone number, email address ) and that you try to pay, it does not work, " Create an account " highlights in red, it means you have to create an account otherwise you cannot pay. In the past, you could pay without having a PayPal account but it is not true anymore.

PayPal is safer? i doubt it, plus a number of people complain / complained about PayPal.

I've just done a dummy run. Where it asks to check in to PayPal there is an option to check in as a guest. If you take this option you do not have to open a PayPal account - you just pay with either a credit or debit card.

I really am a bit confused Jerome - you said you were able to complete the payment by changing the URL but then you said you have been unable to complete the process.

I was not doubting your information - I have also read that their policy has changed and that an account is now required, but was curious about the URL changing. . I believed that indicated there was no option to log in as a guest but Steve does have that option still available

I did another test run and selected the option to Pay By Credit Card - intending to go right through and make a payment if possible.

Everything proceeded until the end when it rejected my credit card details and told me to try using a different one - and the reason for this is that it is the same card that is linked to my PayPal account so they rejected what could have been a possible fraud attempt.

There was no option to check in as a guest as Steve saw - but I do believe that the format of the page differs in different countries.

I still believe PayPal is safer. Why would you want to provide them with all your details as a guest if you do not trust them ?

I use my Paypal Account very infrequently for no more than 4 businesses. Those 4 businesses do not have access to my personal account details. It could just as well be 104 different business. I feel safer having those details with one identity rather than each and every business I want to deal with.

Of course I realize there are risks -
Using a debit card for PayPal would no doubt be safer if it was considered worthwhile paying the annual bank fees which I believe are quite low.

I have been using PayPal for 4+ years whenever I can. I feel very safe. I had disputed charge recently and it was mediated by PayPal & ruled in my favor.

I will continue to use PayPal whenever I can.

I even pay our lawn care person (Yes, I broke down & got one..I got too tired:) via PayPal. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the inputs. It must have something to do with the country where i / you live as it no longer works without having / creating a PayPal account 𝘽𝙐𝙏 𝙄𝙏 𝙒𝙊𝙍𝙆𝙎 𝘽𝙔 𝙍𝙀𝙈𝙊𝙑𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙎𝙊𝙈𝙀𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙈 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙐𝙍𝙇 𝙄𝙉 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘼𝘿𝘿𝙍𝙀𝙎𝙎 𝘽𝘼𝙍 , actually it still works but PayPal intentionally changed the URL because 𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙔 𝙒𝘼𝙉𝙏 𝙏𝙊 𝙁𝙊𝙍𝘾𝙀 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙏𝙊 𝘾𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙏𝙀 𝘼𝙉 𝘼𝘾𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙉𝙏 , 𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙄𝙊𝘿 .

I also make online purchases ( in my country only : France ) but i do not need a PayPal account.
