I should've asked this earlier seeing as I've already uploaded some images but - what are the acceptable file formats? Are there more than jpgs allowed? I hope so coz images lose color quality and clarity when I save them in jpg format :|

Well, you could upload as other formats, like TIF or PNG. However, it is academic, since the image compression algorithms used by the site to create the various sized images will have an effect on quality in any case. See this discussion. The supported formats for the ImageMagick software is here. However, that doesn't necessarily mean you can upload all of them.

As I said, one way or another the image that appears on the site will always be compressed.

I had a similar problem when I saved in jpg, specially when I did it repeatedly. After some frustration (when I tried to print a 12" x 14") I realized that my program was defaulting to a lossy version of JPG's. It's actually configurable in most softwares. I did so, and I much more satisfied now.
