Quick question regarding the Caedes code of conduct. I am in London for the summer and had the opportunity to visit the Victoria and Albert Musuem where a plaster cast of Michelangelo's David is located. I know nudity is restricted from photos that are to be posted on this site, but I just wanted to check to see if my shot falls into that category (solely because it is a rennaissance classic). Any thoughts are appreciated.
Never knowing. Shocking but we're nothing, we're just moments. We're clever but we're clueless, we're just human. Amusing but confusing. We're trying, but where is this all leading? Never Know.

personally I'd say that would be ok but you never know what will offend someone. one mans art is another mans pornography I guess. another option to bypass that I guess would be to do a close up of his head/torso - its a very detailed sculpture and instantly recognisable so I think that would work...
Yeah, I figured I would do a mini-poll to see what people thought. If I need to I could crop as you suggested, or I could try my hand at creating a mini grape leaf to cover up the naughty bits. Haha.

Some classic fine art is still not acceptable on caedes.net... there has been a couple of classic images that had been pulled from our galleries over the years.

I remember a nude scuplpture that I ran past a while back here in the galleries. I didn't say anything about it.
I was in San Juan back in March and there was a really cool fountain with statues, but unfortunately they were all nude. I took some pictures doing my best to crop out or hide the un-G stuff. I think I did an ok job, but I must have looked like a pervert to anyone else int he street. Oops...
My personal opinion is that fine art nudes are perfectly acceptable for all audiences. The problem is that we have yet to find a way to define "fine art nude" such that it applies to what we want and not to what we don't want. Until that time we really have no choice but to be unreasonably paranoid about it. =(
"naughty bits?" Nothing naughty about the human body in the sense of a sculpture or any true art form, PORN is a total different thing of course! Any "classic" art should be fine. DOnt we all know we have these body parts? what's to hide if it isnt done in a totally sensual way. THink of Gaugins Island beauties or some of the other artists who did the women who were naked and frolicking and had gorgeous breast and hips...its beauty...and someone doesnt think so..they shouldnt be lookin' should they?! (smile)
Some people are born with dirty minds.. They see everything in an ugly way.. There is nothing you can do to change them, so you have to keep that in mind, when posting any art..
I agree and I think the problem starts with using names that imply some negative meaning. Also it doesn't help much that our children hear those things and carry them on. That is a bit of an universal statement but think how much of a difference it would make if you grew up only thinking about those, "naughty bits" the same way you think about everything else you learned in biology. Ok I'm done, lol...
The naughty bits comment was actually somewhat of a joke, as one of my professors in my Plant Biology classes used it often to describe the floral sexual organs in plants. I completely agree, and I do not have a problem with the male or female body.
This corner of the earth is like me in many ways. I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play. On the face of this I'm blessed when the sunlight comes for free. I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me.
