"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." Bertrand Russell
I dont know which one, I saw fotobob on his last photo post.. made mention of Rob being in an accident ..so thats waht I was wondering about...thats the first I heard of it...
He is doing better. He has a broken hand that needed special attention (resetting and then surgery). It's healing well, but it's hard for him to type of late. I am sure he will catch everyone up when his typing fingers are freed up a bit more. Yes, it was a Buell, and a little circle of plastic on the road that went under his wheel just as he was banking and braking. Hope I don't get in trouble for telling all of that :-) cheers .. Quiet
I sent a message to Rob to ask him how he is and if he had an accident. And he did, and he is doing pretty good as his wife said. Too bad about his hand, at least it was not the hand he uses..to write with..but must be hard to type now...time is a great healer, so he needs rest and healing time..Im sure...Get well soon Rob..but take your time!! It will be worth it. Dont get too bored...but Im sure you are already planning all sort of photos!! ..take good care!
Hey Folks....the stories of my rapid-parking of a Buell are accurate indeed. It's amazing how a little bit of speed and a whole buncha gravity can equal discomfort in such a hurry. One broken hand, one broken ankle. Good thing I was wearing protective gear!
I'm doing well, and I'm touched by the thoughs, well wishes and kind remarks. Heck, I'm even enjoying the good-natured pokes!
I'm surrounded with a loving family who are taking GREAT care of me. *points to Quiet who just finished cutting the lawn*
I hope to find some more camera time in August when we're heading to New Hampshire again. My favourite place on earth, even if I can't swim this year!
it's like a harley but on steroids and a bit less Siegfried & Roy. they are also notoriously fractious bikes to ride. i personally know of two people killed whilst riding buell's despite being experienced sports bike riders.
get a Ducati????????? oh sheesh, there ya go....and I'm supposed to understand that? try again ok? Is BUel l a brand name??? A Harley on STEROIDS??????????WHOOAAAA!!!! Tell me more...aNy pictures of one anywhere? Rob? how about a pic of yours???
yes....Buell is the name of a manufacturer. Took a Harley engine and put it on a sports bike frame....and got inventive with the design. See here for a pic.
Ducati is a famous Italian company....very successful in racing. See pic of a Ducati Supersport 1000 DS
Well all I can say is NOTHIN' like a good ol' HARLEY!! These Buels and Ducati's might have speed...but a Harley is BEST!! Altho there are other choppers that are great...for example have you seen the chopper that OCC built out of the copper material not being used from the Stature of Liberty?? the WHOLE thing is made of copper, just gorgeous..ya ought to look it up...its called "Liberty" by OCC (Orange County CHoppers) Talk about gorgeous...and speed? wow...then there is the chopper they built for Lance Armstrong...he goes from a racing bike to a racing chopper. Pretty kewl eh??!! Thanx for the info...I love bigtime bikes, altho I cant ride them now, but someday I hope to get a very kewl three wheeler one...(cheeky grin here)
Harley? Those things are stupidly expensive. You'd be as well getting a Honda Goldwing....cruising in comfort...and relatively inexpensive. *ponders the MTT Y2K in a wyrd moment*
I saw American Chopper when they built the Liberty one. Looks very cool..even though it was a pain to put together.
Morwyn, I took the class too, and I'm shy of anything mechanized; even vaccuum cleaners intimidate me. When I rode it (it was just a small bike like 125, don't laugh) it just felt so RIGHT, like an extension of my body. It wasn't noisy like I thought it'd be, either. Now, I kinda pine for one but along with it I'd like a stretch of country without beligerant drivers glued to my butt, tossing choice words and digits as they pass me - 'cause I already get that driving a car. :-)
