Does anyone know how to create gradients with more control than just selecting a file, I mean, actually creating one? It would be very helpful.

Apophysis has the ability to convert any jpeg or bmp file into a gradient. So any images you have created can be analysed and the colours in them converted to gradients. You could therefore create gradients to your exact liking in photoshop (or similar program), save it as a jpeg and then open it with apopyhsis.

Cheers.........

Yes, I am aware of that feature, but often it doesn't get the colors in right order and/or proportions. It samples certain colors, and if you use the same image file, it is different every time.

Are you saying that even if you use the same gradient file on the same flame at different times it comes out completely different?
What I find is once I have the gradient containing the colours i'm wanting, there's still a lot of playing around in the editor to get the colours I want in the place I want. It's never exaclty how i like it, but if i can get close enough photoshop can usually do the rest.
