I have been looking @ this site for the past 4 years or so. I really take alot of inspiration from the fantastic pieces on show and I just wanted to start a discussion on what other people's views and thoughts are so that I can understand the work on a deeper level. Call it selfish if you may but there has to be more about the work than just looking @ it?
Well, my understanding of your question, everyone uploads their work onto the site to share the work that they have made, some have more reason to be uploaded than others I guess.
Thank you very much for your thoughts Andrew. From the looks of things you have a good grasp of the abstract. I am getting to grips with my photo editing programs as basic as they are. What programs are you using and what makes you tick?
Right now im mostly in the discussion board where i share and take impressions from other people about their viewpoints of Art or some off topic things i visit sometimes.
I like to discuss at the moment. But also to look at great pictures.
lol....I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 (most of the kaleidescope images - like Spots version 2), Adobe Photoshop 6 (like Purple Vortex), Bryce 3D (like Plasma)...not necessarily in that order...and combinations of the above.
What makes me tick? I don't know...let me see....I just like doing artwork....some of the stuff I have done (unfortunately removed in the occasional culls by the mods) has been based off an image I had in my head, and was able to create in a graphics programme. Abstract is good because it allows you to get creative.
I only take my inspiration from what I see. Art is not a concept that I dont accept however I dearly want to take my skills further. I have been an artist in the past to the normal constraints of education whether being pencil, watercolour, oils, accrylics etc however slowly but surely I am liking Digital formats as it allows me to realise a far greater potential for my imagination. You have some good pieces "there is no spoon"! Thanks for the program info I will add it to my list. By the way chat to philcUK as he has some really good suggestions.
I actually find the discussions and feedback much more engaging nowadays than the images. There are so many great helpful people here on caedes. I also enjoy being able to offer my own advice to people, especially when someone PM's me or leaves a note in my profile saying I helped them. I do still look at the new images, but I always check the discussion boards first, and my main reason for looking at the galleries is to read and leave comments. I very rarely d/l desktops any more. Oh, and I love the word games in the "General" discussion board too!
I agree Sam, I've learned alot about photography from all the feedback and post reading. For an amateur like myself, it is a big help! I do enjoy the Desktops immensely though, mainly since I have 3 PC's and a Laptop, so I have lots of desktop space to fill, lol.
I like to post positive comments, mainly on photo's that I enjoy the most, since i'm not big on negative criticism. I know being truthful is the right thing to do but i'd rather not say anything than break someones heart.
passion and insperation drives me
i try but i like enjoying others work more than creating my own cus im not that good plus all i can afford is trials and freeware
but i like feelling that something i created was enjoyed by others thus driving me forward
Considering your using trials and freeware your very competent, I like the look of your work. Hate to think what you could do when you can afford the expensive programs.
Whatever comes naturally I reckon. Just trying to get a feel for things. Feel like a tadpole in a pond full of bigger things @ the mo, you guys seem sound. Im enjoying the uploads / reloads & unloads aswell.
What do we love the MOST here?? there are too many choices!...caedes is the most!! an all around great guy, ooops I mean site..heheh(seriously...the whole thing here is to enjoy the most! it's all at yer fingertips!)
The realisation is like the dawn over the silent technocentric streets of suburbia / calming & soothing, however ultimatley guided by drive and other people's expectations. I like everthing so far, the people are good and have a degree of moral fibre missing from current society. I need more time to play and I dont have it aaarrrggghhh.
Sounds like a playground where fun can be had which is good because as it seems comments on the work on display are very good. You and Phil have awesome galleries! Although I dont keep alot of work in my favourites they are however on my hard drive. I think aspirational is the word.

Where do peoples drive and imagination come from?
