Bryce issue

I am having trouble saving images in Bryce. Every time I click "Save" or "Save as" the app. opens the save dialog box on the desktop outside the application (ie I can't see it in Bryce, I have to alt+tab to go to the desktop) Then if I click on the box it just takes me back into Bryce, where I can't do anything. The only way to get out of this cycle is to shut down Bryce. Everything else works, but it doesn't do much good if I can't SAVE anything!! Does anyone have any suggestions before I reinstall it?

I think you may be having trouble finding the proper save button. It's hidden in Bryce. You have to run your cursor over the top of the frame to reveal it. Good luck

Thanks, but the problem occurs after I select the save option at the top of the screen. I haven't had a problem in the past.

is there, maybe, an "always on top" feature you turned on?

Good idea. But I can't find any option like that in Bryce, so I guess the answer must be no :-(

I'd say something has corrupted. You changed anything recently? Get rid of Bryce (making sure existing saved files, custom textures, etc are safe somewhere) and then give your harddrive a well-deserved defragging. Then reinstall Bryce. That's my penny's worth.

A system restore will most likely fix it. Pick a date prior to when you started having this problem. I hope I'm not to late!

Samatar...from what I understood as your problem, this can be a directX or video driver error.

The program itself uses rather odd directX calls, you can see your taskbar but not click on it.

Since the save dialog box opens "behind" the bryce window, it could be a simple DirectX issue.

Try installing or reinstalling directx 9.0c from www.microsoft.com (on the front page) and see what happens

The strange thing is I have exactly the same problem on my othe computer which I copied Bryce to from this one. I think that must mean that the probelm is with Bryce itself. Thanks for the suggestions anyway guys, but I think I will have to reinstall it...

hmm...well I also have bryce 5 and it doesn't have that problem...If I were you, I would make sure my video drivers are up to date and install DirectX 9.0c before reinstalling Bryce, because apparently bryce doesn't come with anything that would update these files.
