Gasp at the amazing invisible screens!

during my busy days at work i spend a gigantic amount of time shifting through the dark corners of the internet! this might not be news to all, but it certainly piqued my interest!

Firstly there are the invisible screens! now this is something i hadn't come across before but clearly its popular with a lot of desktop junkies, so no doubt some of you will have seen it or tried it yourself! i wont bore you with details now, as i tend to ramble at the best of times! So take a look at this site to see (or not see) what im talking about! Invisible screens

I think its a great idea! but i will have to move my monitor so its sat infront of something a little more interesting than a blank wall! and while the individual desktops wont make very good wallpapers for anyone other than the computers respective owner, the photos of the computers with the desktops on do look impressive! so well worth posting a pic, of your computer screen and its surronunding environment with the desktop on it, on here if you have the time and interest to try it!

And now for something not completely different!

Slightly tangental, but in actual fact not at all, is my second link of the day! Some clever boffins at the MIT media labs have created something thats giving me a odd glimpse into the world of tomorrow! The "Installation"

I cant help myself here so prepare for a ramble which will be clearly explained by following the link to the MIT installation website (so you could save your self brain ache and skip ahead to that now!).

Basically its a LCD type display but it acts like a window via a nifty camera on the back of the screen! instantly creating the invisible screen effect i was twittering on about earlier! but thats not all! It also allows you to create abstract forms and place them in the image! when you then pick up the screen the created construct retains its fixed location allowing you to shift your view around it by physcally moving round the room with your monitor/window! virtual reality visualised in actual reality (or near enough). But enough of me and my outburst (see you should have skipped ahead, im sure it wasn't worth the brain ache) have a look at thier site, its live stream video so dial up beware!

Installation

Phew you reached the end of my post! Congrats!

ps. if either of the two links have been posted before on here, then i think i suffered more writting this then you did reading it!

I have actually tried that once ( i read it somewere) and it is not as simple as it looks to hit the right colors that make it look real.
