I have just started using Bryce and am finding it frustrating to say the least. Tonight all I wanted to do was to veiw the entire scene in 1600x1200 format so I could edit it. I couldn't figure it out or the life of me! In the end I gave up and did it 1024x768; even then I couldn't really see what I was doing. When I render it reduces the size so I can see OK, but then when I try to edit it changes back to showing me the top left corner of the scene. I can zoom out but then I end up with the work area being a tiny littl rectangle in the opposite corner. If I use the "Pan" function it just changes the camera perspective and the render looks all wrong. I guess because the interface is so... unique... I just can't figure out how to do what seems to me to be a simple task. Please help before I tear all my hair out!!
I know how you feel. I use Bryce and don't have the greatest images. But I find it easier to do it smaller and resize it with psp or photoshop later. Though I don't resize it to 1600x1200, it doesn't blur. They only seem to blur slightly when I upload them to the site.
lol i got to agree.. after my first initial play with bryce i havent been back to it.. i just don't seem to get along with it... PS will do for me.. lol
Seems I am not the only one who has trouble with this progra, I'm glad, sometimes I think it must be just me. So no one knows how to change the veiwpoint? I find it remarkable that a retail product can be so poorly designed... isn't it really expensive to buy? Certainly seems that people aren't getting their moneys worth if that's the case...
I tend to edit my images mostly in 800x600 mode, otherwise I lose sight of the bigger picture. However, you can change the size at any time by using the Document Setup option on the File menu.
The size of the main render window is not intrinsically linked to the final render size (otherwise all mine would be 800x600 - not vey good!) Also on the Document Setup screen, you have the option to set the render size separately to the actual document size - so your doc might be 800x600, but the finished product is 1600x1200, or whatever.
I never tend to use the zoom mode whilst in 'camera view' because it just messes everything up.
When I render my images, I use the Render to Disk option, anyway. At this stage I specify what size I want it to be, so the actual document size is irrelevant anyway.

bryce is quite good program if used alone and especially for beginners because of its easy interface. When using other software you'll see bryce has plenty of features but almost none of them are actually really good. It's easy to use and the results are nice, but not as good as should be. I havent experianced much with other software and now I'm using wings 3D (great free modelingprogram) for modeling and then render with bryce. When really good results are needed bryce maybe isn't enough. Rhino 3D or Studio Max Pro are way better but they're quite expensive...
agree that bryce's "unique" interface can be a pain at times, especial to those used to engineering software like solidworks, or old school software like lightwave or 3dsmax, but I've been playing with spherical point lights and volumetric lighting and see that the engine has alot of potential
LOL! Bryce is THE most frustrating piece of software I've had the displeasure of attempting. It's sitting on my desktop but, after hours of "playing," I decided to give Vue a try and couldn't believe how much more "user friendly" it was! I've seen many dynamite Bryce images, but, not only is it awkward to work with, but it takes forever just to render a preview. Wen
