How much??

I had a very unexpected email from someone today asking how much I would charge for licencing of one of my images ("Pearls and Oil") and possibly others to use as a background on a CD rom. They advise that less than 5000 units will be produced. Thing is I have no idea how much I should charge. I don't want to be greedy but also don't want to give it away, I guess... any advice?? Also, is there anything I should be aware of in regards to granting a licence? Any advice at all is appreciated.

Awesome Sam, I do have some info...it will cost ya lol. JK At very minimum, I would charge US 225 and go up from there. Here are some other considerations for pricing: size, placement, circulation, distribution (local, national, international), length of display time, uniqueness of the image, and cost of production.

dont forget to outline who else may possess the actual original image, and the notation "Image © 2006 Sam Xxxx, used under license."

Thanks to both of you. I think my first step will have to be finding out a bit more about what this CD is going to be used for, but keep the advice coming.

oh yeah… that reminds me… you may also want to specify what type of products the image may be used to promote.
