How does the Author List Work?

I was just wondering how the author list generated - is it when the artist first puts in a picture and they are added or is it by a ranking system or is it just plain old random?

as far as i can tell...as soon as you upload 1 BG, you have a gallery and go into the authors list. The authors are then listed according to the size of their respective galleries.

The C-index of the authors images are also used to calculate the position on the Author List, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes Crusader is correct. But as you get more images your accumulative c-index grows, so the more pics you have the higher in the list you will be (unless all your images are rated really badly :-))
