I have questions about the archives, once our images have been in archive, how do people do to seek them? Are they still available in the artist gallery?
I know they are still showing up in the control panel and I still see them in my artist gallery as if they were in the new gallery, but when scrolling the new gallery I do not find them anymore.

I think the main purpose of the "archive" function is to keep your gallery complete so that you can direct your friends and family to your gallery and show them your work

but details on this are a bit hazy

LOL means Laughing Out Loud
LMAO means Lauhing My @$$ Off

now...here's something w/a ?

why don't the archived images move into an archived gallery that doesn't appear w/the other galleries...just an invisible gallery...but the image still appear in the Artist's gallery? Instead of saying new image ---> Abstract --> Fractal or w/e it says lol

Did this make sense?

what's a moniker? like the new program? and i kno but they're still labeled as new..instead i was asking if they could be put in "one" category labeled as archive that visitors can't view but can see the images in the artist's gallery

Ahh, archiving…

My understanding (and that’s all it is), is when an image attains a certain c-index rating and / or is very popular in the DL category it is reviewed by counsel to be possibly archived permanently on caedes.net.

Your “gallery” is just that…”your gallery”, which you can link to in order show friends, family and foes, you work. The person(s) who accidentally stumbles onto the site and doesn’t go to ‘new images’ and instead goes to a specific category instead would be looking only at archived images. Again, images chosen by the, “higher powers that be” would be classified as ‘archived’ or etched on Caedes for an eternity. All your images are not archived, only the ones warranted by our higher power.

Go to your ‘gallery’ and take a look-see. Most all mine say “new images->yadda, yadda, yadda”…the ones that have been archived show as a particular category>”nature, fractal, etc.”.

Please correct me if I’m wrong oh great ones.

isn't Archiving a variation on "Ark Chiving" .. which is when Noah rounded up a (*Andrew .. cover your ears*) .. male and female chive and offered them a place, albeit a small place, on the Ark before the flood

Any image that isn't moved to the perms after a few months in the "New Images" gallery is archived, which simply means that it only appears in the artists personal gallery. Have a look at the oldest image in the "New images" gallery; if you have anything in your personal gallery that is older than that, and is labelled as being in the "New Images" gallery, then it must have been archived.

Before the archive system was introduced, the procedure was exactly the same except that images were deleted completely from the server instead of archived.

For the sake of clarity, it sure would be nice if images were designated as "archived" when they are no longer "eligible" for main gallery placement, rather than continuing to be classified as "new images." Are there plans in the works to make such a change in classification? Wen

It's just a matter of coming up with the best way to designate an image as archived. I don't think he has come up with a way that he's satisfied yet, or maybe some major programming is required, but as Keifer said he does want to implement such a change.

I think that the easiest and least intrusive way would be to have a column in the Caedes Control which indicated the archive status of the image. This wouldn't be very difficult to add, but it couldn't take up much space since the CC is already really wide.

just use "Archived" instead of "New Images" .. since most will go from one to the other

"archived personal gallery" .. dl's = 0 .. views = 1 .. c-index 4.5

Good idea to put it into the Caedes Control.. thats where it should be.. out of the way, plenty of room.. wonder how many threads get started on "Why was my image archived".. lol ... sorry couldnt resist that.. lol
