I didnt feel like burying throught 47 long pages that might take me no where on this question.
COPYRIGHTs. I read the thing over and over again, yet i do little images that still get bumped. So am i allowed to go to deviantART and take an image without their permission (as long as it doesnt say "must have permission to use this image")?
I see ppl posting pics of NASA stuff is ok but searching on google for a random pic is not always good? Im lost, what is "legal"...point me to a thread explaining in great detail for a little child like me? ...or just reply with an answer...
Re: DevArt - Any image on the net is copyrighted (DMCA laws) unless it's public domain, so I think it'd be illegal to take an image without permission. I don't know much about DA, so I'm assuming that their copyright page is pretty much the same as on here.
Searching on Google for pics to use in manips - as long as you give credit to the original page by a link, it's fine. But some images that come up on Google are copyrighted, so you're going to have to search around for a copyright notice. The rules are a lot less strict on StockExchange Images, though.
I only track down rippers in the Vigilante Justice, I'm not into legal stuff, so I don't know if this is accurate enough. =)
The "public domain" part throws me off...to the other side of the planet.
Also, is it ok to use the preloaded models in daz studio (which i have not paid for)...i kinda want to use the wings, but i have nooooo idea if im allowed to use them...since i didnt really make them. I just press the render button!
Manipulating/editing a copyrighted image in any way and then uploading it to the net would definitely get you in BIG trouble, bigger than getting caught turning the fan on the rainbow-colored post-it notes on the principal's desk.
Caedes is so much fun! It has little blue buttons, and they even turn green! ...other features include posting images, but who cares about that part. Blue buttons!
I've never used DAZ, so I don't know how exactly it works. When you say preloaded, do you mean like a default model that comes with the package when you download it from the net?
Stone Age - are you really telling me that the primitives didn't..uh.."defend their property"? =p
You are only allowed to use other peoples material if it is public domain. That is, the person must specify somewhere in writing that you are allowed to use their material. That is the same as having express written permission from the author.
That's simple! Alright...but my daz studio question with the model that comes in the free package still is a little lost. Not that im going to use it anytime soon, just want to clear up my confusion.
Stone age: i dont really know if they defended their property well, i wasnt there. But from my knowledge, in the town of Bedrock they were just like us! So yeah, you are right. lol. Uh oo, no i have the flinstones song going on in my head...maybe a shower will get rid of it! =P lol

If you use an image from Devart stock, most of the artists have somewhere on their page the conditions of use, most of them are fine if you use them as long as you dont sell them and you MUST credit their stock and link to their gallery and you MUST send them a link of your image that includes their stock..

You can not take a stock image from somewhere and post it on caedes.net, it has been decided that there must be a major modifications to the stock image for it to be postable material. For good examples of stock images in use, see Grimbug's Gallery.
