Is this a Rip?

I want to make a background with the moon in it, but I have a crappy camera. If I took a picture of it (off another site), and modify the original would it be a rip? Or what if I used the original, but placed it with other images,or used it in something (like a scene) would that be a rip?

if you don't get permission 1st from that person, and the image is not marked as free for public use, then yes, it will be.

stockxchng .. 28 pages of howling at the moon bliss

You'll need an account to download the images .. FREE .. there are basically two types of usage .. (ignore the links from Stockxpert.com at the bottom .. they cost $$)

No Restrictions = you can make the next Rolling Stones CD cover and NOT credit or notify .. (if you'd want to be associated with the next Rolling Stones cover) ..

Contact, Credit, and Notify .. You can make the next Rolling Stones CD cover, but they'd like some acknowledgement, credit, and ordinarily a Free CD, but since it's the Rolling Stones, they'll pass

I use the stock from here all the time .. and I always provide them a link (in a comment) so that they can see where and how it was used .. and, just maybe, they will continue to make their work available to me for FREE

For example .. No Evil .. ;o)

You must give credit to the sources of any images used that are not your's to start with, including stock images and public domain images. Like Animaniac said, if they are not stock or public domain, then you must obtain permission from the original creator of the image to use it.

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)
