I think you just did :-) Not sure what you're after. If you mean things like Terragen, then whoever makes them for you must own the fully liscenced version. You can't use the freeware version for commercial purposes.
Of course we'll pay. We're not concerned with what app the artist uses, only the finished product. In turn we expect to deal with responsible, professional artists (translation: Terragen, etc., licensing is your problem). In addition to pay, the artist gets Table of Contents credits with corresponding page numbers for art and contact website address. Anyone interested in specs?
Well in the U.S.A expert starts at $60.00 around hour in house and $125.00 in field that’s just for still frame Graphics work. If you want animated it jumps to about $150.00 and up depending on what you want. You have a lot of talented artist on this site, Digital, Flash and Cg artist. Petition some one for the work. And see if you get an answer. I don’t know how Caedes would feel about that but all you can do is ask.
After all there are some pro's on the site all you have to do is look around you can tell.
Or you can go on the web and inter what your looking for and go that wrought.
Artists will get market rates plus the other stuff mentioned above. It's for Planescape-style D&D, but it's of a series of weird mountains and not really medieval.
Correct. Dark, brooding peaks with ominous lighting effects. We're looking for one each of the following: One peak with a series of waterfalls, one erupting volcano with lava fields and ejecta, one snowy peak with glaciers and storms, and one very dark and grotesque mountain. We also need an asteroid field with odd lighting. Those are the general specs.
I have my usual silly question, D13D: Are these images you're looking for supposed to be distant things (i.e., background) or will the game characters be, for instance, climbing one of those mountains so that you need close-ups of the terrain/vegetation/etc. proportional to the character's size?
Water Gateway by jono00--weird mountains
Where by tracyjtz--otherworldly feel
Sun over the Atoll by nicky--lighting effects
Sound of Silence by Frux--atmosphere
Molten Gore by grimbug--flame effects
Frozen Lake by nicky--ice and mountains
Molten by Samatar--lava and volcano effects
well im working on the other 3 images anyway.. as i do like the brief... im heavily into my fantasy/sci-fi... and i have no shame in admiting that i am a D&D freak...Planescape is almost an ideal mix of fantasy and some sci-fi.. so im well up for making some images along these lines even if they dont get used by the D13D comapny... they make fairly good esktops anyway :D so thanks for the support Sam :D
Hey, Grim...has anyone tried his email addy that he put in his profile yet? Might be a way to alert him to the fact that there's good stuff waiting here for him. :D

Thanks to everyone who posted comments on this thread. We've looked over the images and will return when our next book nears completion--more photo manipulation and original art than landscapes. We'll also need more creepy and bizarre landscapes in the next 8 months. Special thanks to ::grimbug for his enthusiasm and initiative. We look forward to his second iterations/final copies.
