One more of the house moving. You can see the first one here. It was on the main highway for about two miles. Can you imagine seeing this coming at you? It might make one give up drinking. If that didn't, I suspect the Highway Patrolmen would.

Today it may stop you from drinking and driving. But some 200 years ago you might have tried to stop it with a cross held high! Another good shot of this modern way of resettling in another town (no,not town, village, no, place)

Cool action shot Tick and great angle here! Most of us just move to another home in another town, but some people just like to do things the hard way.

If I saw it coming at me I would be getting out of the way for sure.
Very interesting shots Tick. I hope it made it's way to The Amish farm in good shape. I still like the fact that the house didn't fall victim to a bulldozer. I would love to see this in it's new resting place. I have seen an Amish barn raising a couple times it is amazing. They come from miles around to help build barns . Great shot and post.

I can imagine it because I have seen it happen. It used to be, if not a common sight in NZ, certainly not an unusual one.
This is a great shot again Tick. I like images that tell a story.

A house has to be very well constructed not to fall apart from a move like this. I remember seeing several scenes like this when I was a teenager. The state took over the land by eminent domain of the people down the road to make way for the CT turnpike. Everyone was entitled to buy their houses back for $1.00 and some did.
I expect it takes some experience to move a house successfully.

I see the Amish didn't have a problem with technology in this case, did they? LOL. Back in the eighties, they moved my Aunt's house across the street, to make way for retirement housing.
