Looking Out My Back Door

I've uploaded this three times and the contrast is still not showing up like in my original shot. I don't know what is going on.

This was taken on the streets of St. Joseph. I believe it was in an alley. I liked the looks of the fire escapes on the two buildings. Made me think of New York City.

Textures my own and one for the B/W Challenge.

Tick, I know what you mean about the contrast being different after the image is uploaded ... I have found this mostly in B & W images (a few colors too). I always upload an image in .png format, but I know once it's uploaded it's converted to .jpg. Not sure sure what's happening either ... wish I had an answer.

The building / fire escapes remind me of NYC too. I see alot of gray or midtones, but the black fire escapes & window frames contrast nicely with the gray. I like the texture you used ... gives it a nostalgic look. Outstanding work, Tick. This will do well in the B & W Challenge.

Tick, I wonder if the problem has to do with the site server. In any case I think this is a marvelous capture, and your postwork is very well done. Perfect for the challenge. Tigs♥ =^..^=

Shows up great to me! I don't know if there's a way, but I think the sky part and the sides of the building should have been a smoother finish though. Just my opinion, and I'm not that smart about pictures!...lol...And thats my favorite song of Creedence's!!!!

I have had the same problem on some uploads Tick not sure what the problem is or if there is a solution. It's a great piece of work .
I like the tones , textures and think it is a great subject matter for B&W . Will do well in the challenge.

oh yeah, Creedence Clearwater! That's some helluva back door way up there. Great find... It's moody and NYC and looks like an old postcard, and your B&W treatment gives it a gritty texture that I remember from my teen years pretending to be all grown up while visiting coffeehouses in the Village.

Nine 'Doo's' and no Don't's!..makes a mockery of Caedes Contrasts eh! .. :-(

I can see the grittiness of the this...looks like an old warehouse feature!...Makes me think of those police raids in owd movies

Good luck

Perhaps you should have brightened it a bit before increasing contrast. In any case a very good B/W image with good clear textures Tick.

Mighty moody and marvellous Tick!
A great addition to the BWC :)

Sometimes I notice that what I view in my image editors looks less contrasty after I save it to my computer and occassionally do see a further reduction after upload. I also notice a difference with different lighting at home. What looks bright and vibrant late at night with just a side lamp sometimes looks duller in the cold light of day.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I tried to comment on the first 17 versions, TicK, but they kept disappearing on me. I was starting to wonder if you were doing your Homer Simpson impression and should have been saying, "D'oh d'oh d'oh d'oh". When I first saw the title I was wondering how you were going to include this song, which is actually called "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)"

Sorry I'm so late arriving at the scene of the crime, but my DSL is getting slower and slower. It now takes 25 seconds to load the full-sized image. Faulty excuses aside, this is a magnificent image. To me it looks like you took a back alley wall and then posted the tenement on top of it. I will not be entering the B/W contest again until this shot is off the list. You are taking gigantic leaps in your post photo work. My hat is off to you. "Faves" and an AC nomination at a minimum. Spectacular work.

That must be a wide alleyway if you managed to get this perspective. Reminds me more of Canton than NYC. A good perspective and textures in this image Tick. I see the inmates don't all have bars on their windows.
