Since the Owd Timer picked the new contest, I felt compelled to enter. This Red Bird was lost and he saw my Cardinal Flag waving from the front porch. He figured I could give him directions to St. Louis. He had flown in from somewhere back east. I think I detected a slight Boston accent. He said he wasn't treated too well there and claimed those folks were world serious. The only thing he liked about them was the color of their sox. I told him he needed to go south and a little east to get to St. Louis. About that time a crow landed in the yard and offered to fly with him part way. I have been eating crow since the World Series so this one was safe. He liked my pad and tweeted "wait til next year," as him and the Old Crow headed south. Maybe Mimi will console him when he arrives there.

great detail in this bird but... the expression on his face reflects one of disappointment or even animousity. seems to be a dual massage in the narrative and typed out in the same style & form that mesmerized does when contacting customer service. then again i could be wrong.
nice shot TicK!

10-4 Tick..I will do my best to ease the Cardinal pain.

Too bad he had a bad experience back East....plus I didn't even like their socks :)

Well done my friend!

Straight line distance it's about 1450 miles from here in SW direction. As the crow flies it could be tens of thousands of miles. Crows aren't exactly known for their ability to fly in straight lines; they get easily distracted.
A good capture of the cardinal Tick. Nice details and colour in the bird and good composition of the photo. Best of luck in the contest.

The crow can be a good guide but not at all trustworthy. Hope the cardinal gets to his destination, especially as the crow now knows who has eaten his friends. Ideal entry for the contest Tick. The crow would have blended in nicely here too.

It's really great to see a new posting from you OFT (Owd Fella Tick). Your very fine image is a perfect entry for the 'Selective Colour' contest. Wish you a lot of success with it. Let me, however, not forget to say that I've enjoyed your narrative as well. It's original as usual.

Best regards, my friend,

Cornelius.

SOT dear,
I saw this image last night but was too tired to comment.
Today I realise that it was not a case of tiredness but mental traffic jam. Feeling unable to make any witty remark, I just say: homing pigeon it is not, but let's give him a chance. And do not bother to comfort me.... My mind's not working...

Very cleanly done. It is hard to do selective color without it looking "pasted in." Great entry.

Sharp, vivid, the color contrast could not have been better, the selection of this bird and especially the composition are perfect. I tend to prefer the actual "colors" of Mother Nature, but you may have won me over with this photo... it is stunning.
