Every once in a while you need to get away from the horsing around and spend some time collecting your thoughts. Thoughts like: "Is lumpy gravy harder to digest or is a day with your head stuck over the fence really worth it?" Sometimes the herd mentality wears a little thin and you need to sort things out. That's when I get off by myself and think things out. Things like: "If I were named Bob would I want to lie down on a bench or should I enter myself in the b/w challenge?"

"Oh, enough of that." "I think I will go plant some apples and make fun of the Amish horses as they go by pulling a buggy." "Ah, life is good!"

This is simply spectacular. Everything about it is exceptional, and better than most magazine covers. Perfect placement of the main subject, loaded with diagonals,a 3D effect, and a horizon with a small herd of silhouettes. You have every right to say

Yes you must enter this in the B/W challenge Tick. Don't think about "if I were named Bob". Good shot of the horse up close. Nice details. Sho us some more Amish photos.

OFT (Owd Fella Tick),
thanks for your philosophical contemplation as set forth in your narrative. Life has many faces. The ups and downs will continue to alternate. When one is in such a bad period, it is good to realize that the sun will shine once more. Thanks for the beautiful image as well. Picture and story perform a perfect match. It's even superfluous to say that it's a good entry for the challenge.

Regards, Sea

Is this the Reincarnation of Mr. Ed?

A Talking Horse. By the looks of him he has nothing to do with the Amish Mafia.

Best of Luck in the B&W Contest.

I guess he isn't part of the clique that's hanging around in the background there. It's a shame...he's a fine looking specimen. Probably just a bunch of nags back there anyways. Excellent b/w shot, Tick.

Very well done Tick... I agree with Doug (Snapshooter) in placement of horse within frame of picture. It brings him to forefront to make a great portrait. B/W is good.. very dramatic
Good Luck in contest... Gerry

Lovely close up and it looks great in B&W too and I love the dramatic over cast sky in the photo along with the detail in the horse as well. Also the horses at the top left hand side adds that extra good feel to this photo as well.

maybe the thought thats being considered is the icon of an apple on the device that took this pic. hay! if i was horse that surely would be on my mind, you are so right about needing solitude to gather ones thoughts to deeper more puzzling questions to life. a horse cant play basket ball, yet where did that name come from?? and if a benches have four legs..why dont it just run off when bob is closing in fast. it's a great picture in B/W TicK. my friend Morgan & i salute you!!

There are so many of life's little quandries to think about such as, "Why is there only one Monopolies Commission?"or "why if you transport goods by ship it's cargo but if it goes by road it's a shipment?"
A beautiful image that is perfect for The B&W Challenge.
