Friday Night Lights
High School football is a Friday night tradition in the U.S.A. Some folks take is so serious and lose sight that it is just a game. Win all all costs is the feeling many have when the players suit it up for combat. Luckily, there are those who still realize the world doesn't turn on the outcome of these contests. This was taken in Marceline, Missouri, the boyhood home of Walt Disney. I am sure he would have enjoyed the sport as it was meant to be. You can read more about Marceline here.
I generally have some light during the first half and use my Nikkor 70-300mm, 4.5 to 5.6 lens. When night comes, I use the Nikkor 80-200mm. 2.8 lens. This was taken with that lens. I might enter it in the contest for a change of pace. Marceline (black uniforms) crushed our team during the contest. My grandson was on the losing time but he didn't pout at the outcome. Neither did I. This is not him pictured.

I think this is a great entry Tick and unlike anything else entered. I grew up in Peoria IL and can attest to the Friday night devotion to football. My family went to the stadium almost every Friday night in season to cheer for the Spalding Fighting Irish, the local private Catholic high school team. This is very well captured with great detail for a night shot.

I too think this will make a very good entry, it is out of the normal, which is not a bad thing at all my friend. I'm in the area of the Irish from Notre Dame, and Purdue so and the high school games are a big deal around here as well. You made the right choice on the lens change, super action capture, ad one more thing I noticed is the camo! :) =^..^=T♥gz

Great capture. I always enjoy looking at the detail; mud on the shoes,shine on the helmets, worn gloves on the receiver. His shirt smeared with mud. Cool

High school football is huge in Columbus, too. I am surprised that networks haven't been able to work out deals with the school boards to televise the big games on Friday nights. I am sure the revenue flow would be a welcome to the schools.

Football (from any country) can be very fan-actical!...We have 2 big soccer teams a few miles apart...and when they play, the passion of the fans sometimes end up in violence!....

The thing that goes the farthest, towards making life worthwhile, it costs the least and does the most, is just a pleasant smile.
This would be a great enter for the contest and you did capture lovely light and stunning colours and you shutter setting was perfect in this capture producing great detail and the colours are superb too.
