This old world would be a better place if all people could just find some "Common Ground" and settle their differences. Sadly, this most likely will not happen. I know it didn't with Rascal and the trespassing raccoon. Rascal's owners were on vacation this past summer and I was put in charge of making sure he had food and water. This scene awaited me when I checked on him. I believe he had coon on his menu. The coon acted like it just wanted some peace and quiet. Rascal wasn't interested in either. Well, maybe a piece of the coon. Every time the coon tried to climb the tree, Rascal would nip him on the "you know where." We all have met someone just like Rascal. I don't know the outcome since I did my chores and left. Suffice it to say I didn't read about a dead dog or coon, so perhaps there is hope for all us.

We had a raccoon fall in love with one of our B&W cats years ago - used to come visit her at the screen door - but she had two black circles around her eyes so maybe he was confused! This is a funny image _ I Love the look on both their faces - you captured the confrontation well!

A nice scene of the two in a no go situation! Rascal looks ready to spring at the slightest movement from the coon. Good one Tick.

Great scene of dog meets coon, Tick! Good thing there were no skunks in the neighborhood.

Tick, you've captured this picture and have written this narrative very well. Although both of them are rascals, you've provided us a perfect illustration of an opposing world. It's a pity that you was 'forced' to go away, as I'm curious about the outcome.

Thanks for wise words as well Owd Fella!

Rascal looks like he is ready for some playtime, but the coon has different plans ... refuge in his / her tree. My dogs have gotten so use to raccoons coming around they simply ignore them now. I guess they have finally found their common ground. Excellent capture, Tick.

maybe not enough protein in rascals diet TicK..or he was pissed his owners left & wanted a piece of someones..well you know what. rascals was just letting the coon know that was his tree..maybe it had to pee. seems the person in charge was slacking. now i watched enough so called reality tv shows to know this..who was holding the camera? while rascal needed to be put up.. BUSTED!
