I ran across this scene in my "Country Roads" file. It was taken several years ago when I was deer hunting with my friend Bear. I used the Panasonic FZ35, which I still have, but don't use very often.

The Eagles are brushes I made from some shots of Eagles that I have taken over the years. They told me not to use the Buzzard brush that I was thinking about. They mentioned they were our Nation's symbol and were better scavengers then the Buzzards. I must admit they are more eye pleasing. By the way, I took Raj's advice and learned to speak Eagle. I am not fluent by any means, but I am working on it.

I gave it a lot of thought where I wanted to place the Eagles. I know there are rules for this sort of thing, but to me it is where it pleases my eye. Obviously this was the one. Photography is like anything else, if we all thought and did it the same way, it would become boring. I might make a print from this one.

I'd say you placed the eagles in the right spot Tick!!! This is a beautiful B&W image - I especially like that tree, it really adds a good perspective to the shot. If I hadn't known from reading your narrative, I would have thought these eagles were a mating couple. Excellent work!!!

Excellent B/W image Tick. Your old camera and yourself have done a great job here. The eagles look as though they really belong there. I am glad that you are learning eagle talk - now you will be able to get closer to them.

They seem very well placed to me Tick and the depth and variety of the monotones is excellent.

This is so durn tootin' good, Tick, I had to fave it, and it will be on my DT for a while too. The Eagles look great in the shot, but I doubt they will do Hotel California for me if I make a request. Oh btw...I think the buzzard is the state bird of Michigan. LOL.

Way to go old mate....making your own brushes now eh....won't be long before you have your own decorating supplies!

The mono works good with this .. and, it also depicts a scene which would be familiar sight antwhere.

Tick, when I saw your title, this song of the late Marty Robbins came instantly into my mind. Later I thought that 'Doolin' Dalton' of the Eagles would have been a proper choice as well:

"Doolin-Dalton"

They were duelin', Doolin-Dalton
High or low, it was the same
Easy money and faithless women
Red-eye whiskey for the pain
Go down, Bill Dalton, it must be God's will,
Two brothers lyin' dead in Coffeyville
Two voices call to you from where they stood
Lay down your law books now
They're no damn good
Better keep on movin', Doolin-Dalton
'Til your shadow sets you free
If you're fast, and if you're lucky
You will never see that hangin' tree

Well, the towns lay out across the dusty plains
Like graveyards filled with tombstones, waitin' for the names
And a man could use his back, or use his brains
But some just went stir crazy, Lord, 'cause nothin' ever changed
'Til Bill Doolin met Bill Dalton
He was workin' cheap, just bidin' time
Then he laughed and said,"I'm goin,"
And so he left that peaceful life behind
Mm...

BTW, I see by your narrative that meanwhile you've become a multi language phenomenon. Beside English and Horse, you speak - not fluent yet - Eagle as well. That's not easy, because the latter is almost unpronounceable to human beings, lol.

Perfect B@W shot Owd Fella. Narrative and image perform a perfect match, so S+F. Thanks!

Tick, You've done a grand job with this one and I love the b&w - sometimes b&w just makes everything better. The eagle placements are terrific (and yes, they are scavengers but I love 'em).

I'd also say you made just the right choice in where you placed the eagles...I'd give you a little of Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley but I think the pace of the song is a bit too cheerful for the loney, brooding atmosphere you've created with the dark tones, lighting, and overall scene...great work, SOT.

I am borrowing Jimbobs comment - this is 'durn tootin' good" !!!
I don't know how to say that in Eagle but I am sure the birds would agree.
Such an ominous atmosphere, I imagine it to be very quiet. Exceptional photography Tick. Thanks for adding it to the BWC.

My 12 year old grandson goes deer hunting. We had his first trophy on the barbeque a few weeks ago. It was delicious, but I still felt sorry for the deer. He also had its beautiful skin to show us, all cured and looking lovely.
