This school was built in the early 1920's and was used until the late 40's or early 50's. It served students from Kindergarten through the 10th grade. After the 10th grade they went to a High School in Glenwood, Mo. It is all that remains of the town. The rest of the town has faded into history. I can still remember going to a one-room school. The local newspaper used the photo this week, so I guess it qualifies for the Photojournalism Gallery.

Several different families lived in the structure over the years after it was decommissioned as a school. It was also used as a hunting cabin for out of state deer and turkey hunters. I have seen both deer and turkey feeding in the old school yard. Two old buzzards flew in to reminisce about the old days. That's about all that is left--"old buzzards reminiscing."

An old dilapidated building that has been of good use to so many people and now probably home for rats and other small animals. A sorry sight it is but a good photo of it and a nice narrative Tick.

There are quite a few 'Old Buzzards' lurking around on here!..😋

I like this downtrodden but historic feature...The old places like this have lots of histories which, (if Walls could talk'..there be a few tales to tell!)

Don't see many of the old one-room school houses around here anymore so a nostalgic look back at this one...it has quite an interesting history to it with all its' uses over the years...as Bob, said, 'if walls could talk'...the presence of the yellow flowers add a cheery touch of color to an overcast day...great shot and narrative, a good one for the photojournalism gallery.

It must have been quite the little school in its day. Plenty of lighting for easy study. We have so many of these school around this area in pretty good shape too as we have them brought into most fairgrounds to show off at fair time. Actually the Amish use some of them yet as their schools.

Really great shot and narrative on the old school Tick - remnants of the bell tower are still intact - I like the two vultures on the roof - they really fit in well with the old structure - Great Capture!!!!!!!!

Great shot of this old school house Tick. Ah the stories it could tell. Built back when they believed that sunshine and fresh air coming into a classroom had a strong upside.

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), you're not only a good photographer and skilled story teller, but a master when it comes to playing with words as well.
Good entry for the photojournalism gallery. Wish however that in this case your playing with words wouldn't have become true.

It is sad in a way that these old structure and bits of history are slowly disappearing from the landscape. Its the law of entropy, and everything in the universe is subject. Yes, it would be nice be able to show your grandkids things such as this. Holding on the any thing or moment is where true suffering lays.
