Outside

This building is adjacent to the photo of the building Mural In Progress I posted yesterday. It was destroyed by fire April 3, 2019 and is still standing. I took this photo on May 10, 2019. The photo of the Mural In Progress was taken September 13, 2019. You can read about the fire here. The street has been closed ever since the fire occurred.

On one corner of the town square a new memory is being made with the Mural, while on another corner a building waits to be buried. Such is the life of a small town.

EDIT--The link showing the fire might not work for everyone. Below is a portion of the information given at the time.

A building on the northwest side of the Unionville, Missouri square was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning. Crews from the Unionville, Missouri Fire Department were called to the building around 2 a.m. Wednesday. Ultimately, departments from Centerville, Green City and Milan were also called to assist. The building, at address 1622 Main St., was believed to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Online property records indicate the building was constructed in 1909 There were no injuries. Article from Iowegian Daily Newspaper

The outer shell looks still good after the fire. Your second link "here" doesn't seem to work .. It says "unavailable due to legal reasons"

I went on Google Maps and saw this majestic building in better times from 2014. Thanks for sharing.

I always hate to see older buildings with history turn to ash - it seems the Europeans are far better at preserving their history than we are ours. I really like the roofline of this building.

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), by checking-out the second link in your narrative the result was: "Hmmm, we couldn't find the page you were looking for."
Think however that your image (at full screen size) and your additional information provide us with detailed information about this devastating fire destroying a part of the young history of Unionville.
A very good contribution for the photojournalism gallery again!

It was a fine building Tick - as the saying goes, they don't build them like that anymore or never for that matter - I really like the cornice work over the windows and top - Great Capture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...Sad when these relics of the past succumb to fire...Sadder still when it happens in a small town where the place's history is more mainstream...

----- Oh, and I DO notice the "Golfer" avie (logo) on your posts now...Good things to make sure you have on-board these days... Too many lazy, entitled people out there wanting to swipe someone else's creative/intellectual material, and pass it off as their own... These "avies" actually DO thwart such acts!

Well presented capture here, Cap'n... Faved...,
