Another mural for you to enjoy. This one is in Kirksville, Missouri and was painted by Gerald D. Walker. You can read about it here. As you can see it has faded over the years. It's on the South Side of the building so it gets a lot of sun year round.

Yesterday I posted this photo of the Courthouse you see in the painting. Kirksville is home to Truman State University. It was known as Northeast Missouri State University when I graduated from there back in the 70's. As the oldtimers ask around here: "Did they learn ya much at that there college?" Hopefully some of the information stuck in my head. I think I hear it rattling around in there from time to time. Enjoy!

Tick, Mr. Walker has recorded the history of his day in this painting. He has given us industry, log cabin, courthouse, church, all over the rich farm land of America.

The statue on the left, I believe, is of Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, the discoverer of osteopathic principles of medical treatment and the statue on the right is of Joseph Baldwin, founder of Truman State University.

Quite a mural by Mr. Walker.

A beautiful mural Tick - The pale blue color and the little area with purple do very well together.

---It's on the South Side of the building so it gets a lot of sun year round---

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), the colors of this beautiful mural are probably faded by exposure to UV radiation. It may be a coincidence, but as far as I know, the murals of this series are located on the (north) west side, except this one, so reducing the adverse influence of UV radiation.

Very interesting to read by checking-out your first link: "This is an example of how public art enhances our community and can be enjoyed by everyone."

Therefore I hope that some funds can be raised so that the colors of this wonderful and interesting mural will be restored/revived.
