An image of just a few Bald Cypress trees that were left high and dry without water to sustain them when Toledo Bend was drawn down last year to repair the Dam. Due to this years drought I understand the lake level stands about the same. Wonder if they survived? Their roots give the impression as if they are walking on land. Please view Full Screen to see root structures more clearly and understand how these trees survive. My entry into the "Emptiness" Contest. Thanks in Advance to all who view, comment and vote. Have A Great Day! E J

Hope they will recover somehow EJ. It will be a great pity when all these old trees wither away due to the drought.

Grrrrrreat capture. I have some cypress trees in my pond that looked like that for awhile but with some recent rains, the pond has filled up a little. Your image is captivating. One is held hostage by it until it has been adequately examined. KEEP-PAH!

Fascinating details! The roots do give the impression of walking away. Sad and beautiful at the same time. Saved to enjoy longer.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . Fabulous sky. The clouds look 3 dimensional. The combination of sky and seemingly dead trees is concerning. Well done.

Ah, Bryce roots. :-) Wonderful to see those in a real photo. The trees are lovely, and the whole photo has vibrant colours and sharpness without being grainy. Best of luck in the contest!
