I've been thinking of doing a moon phases illustration for a while, and the "Time" contest seemed a good reason to tackle it. Moon image from NASA with some editing, background Xaos, the rest in Paint Shop Pro.

Prints of this (slightly modified as per purmusic's suggestion) and other works are available at RedBubble and Zazzle.

Really nice work, Hannah.

If I may.. composition.

In my humble opinion, think you could make some 'minor' (on the notes of your concept and overall presentation) changes.

Moon ... smaller.

Allowing for the Xaos fractal to provide stronger leading lines within frame, prodding your viewer's eyes to look into your piece.. deeper. As they are a nice touch.

Add some more depth, in short.

And in turn, knock down the moon's prominence (visual weight), too.

Will summarize my thoughts here.. in a popular phrasing..

Best of luck in the contest with this very strong creative contender. :o)

For me...a winner for sure, really nice work!!

You really thought about it of what the moon means to the world, like the time between high and low water!

This reminded me of the work first of Vladstudio, then of NMSmith... enough said, I think. Very nice.
