I don't know what these birds are actually called .. but this one just sat and watched every move the people walking by him at the Zoo were making. Like it was his own domain. Thanks for stopping in today and have a great Friday ;) Anita

I think that is a Cackle Anita, but not sure...looks too small for a Crow. It is a good shot of him...composition is great...gerry..

oh hes nice, i like how the black is bluey black on his neck, i dunno what he is either, he looks like some sort of crow/raven type bird, but like gerry says, he looks a bit small and not scary enough! lol! im sure someone far more knowledgeable than I will tell you what he is though!! (anyone got the Observer book of birds handy ?) :-)

Excellent shot Anita! What I really like about this is the two bright spots to the left in the background and how they work in making the birds eye just pop off the screen. Composition and color are wonderful.

niceeeee capture Anita! He is even cocking his head to one side in a pose for you! This would make a really nice card! Maybe we should all go into business and sell our images as birthday/best wishes cards!! lol! Patti

Great comp and the bird is posing so perfectly. It's quite a mysterious looking shot with the deep colors and the bright eye. I like this Anita!

Patti has a great idea....And Anita has a great photo. (Looks like the birds we would shot for getting our fruit in the orchards)

I think you'll find Anita you've captured a "GRACKLE" with a "G". And while I'm at it may I say you've done a bang-up job in doing so. The leaves on the left add a perfect balance to this marvelous pic. I expect you'll be giving lessons on bird photography in the near future ... if you'd be so kind ... e-mail me an application.

Just an old "Grampa" who still has a Kodak "Box" camera kicking around the attic ... learning and enjoying the wonders of modern digital photography.

Yup, it's a Grackle. You can tell by the yellow eyes; the Grackle is the only one of the blackbird family that has yellow eyes. This is the Common Purple Grackle. (They also come in an irridescent bronze.)

Beautiful capture of it! Love the contrasting colors. His personality also shows through.
