This blue heron had just seen another heron land not far away and was posturing for a confrontation. The confrontation consisted of a few hops off the ground by each of the participants, some squawking, and then a parting of the ways. Sadly for me and my camera, there were trees blocking me from getting photos of it, but I was happy with this one and a couple others before the standoff.

Best I've ever seen Larry. I've never seen this posture before. You got it so well focused that I feel like I'm there. I enjoy watching herons and egrets but most of the time all I get is them feeding.

Well captured Larry - you caught the fire in his eye and a posture I've not seen before in a heron.

Herons are one of my favourite birds Larry, & it's seldom you see them in this confrontational posture. A lovely clear shot nicely framed if a tad overexposed.

I saw my own Boris the Dog today walking in the same manner approaching another male dog...:) This strutter as our Bob put it seems universal regardless of the species! Lovely image and you deserve to feel very proud of it. Thanks so much for sharing.
