Back when I was a youngster, living on the other side of Vancouver, my mother would occasionally bring my brothers and me to this forested park. It is fairly-sized, and it used to have swings and a slide for kids to play on, but sadly they have been torn down, and all that is left for for recreation is a skateboarding rink. Anyway, I was particularly fond of this path shown in the picture that led up a hill. The trees alongside it would blush in pink blossoms during the spring and show off their vivid colored leaves during the fall... and I absolutely loved it. I was curious as to where the path led, so I asked my mom when she kept us from following it. She told me it went to the college, a place where adults go to school... I never did see where the path led, until September, when I started going to that college. =)

A great narrative to go with your photo, Amanda. A nice perspective in the photo. I like the dark shades in the colours and the shadows in the scene. A nice "light at the end of the tunnel" effect.

The difference between a bad artist and a good one is: the bad artist seems to copy a great deal; the good one really does. ~William Blake

A beautiful path it is too. I like the idea of the bright light. It is in keeping with the idea that as a child you had no idea what was at the end. All things become clear in their time, I guess. You have good writing skills. That is a plus these days for college students. lol I wish you the best at your studies, whatever they may be. And keep taking pictures!

I like the vertical presentation of this scene. Beautiful autumn colors & I especially like the reds. A little over-exposed in the sky which tells me you may have been shooting into the sun. The light play is very interesting. Superbly captured, Amanda.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Thanks for this fine post, Amanda (both image and narrative). Such 'against the light' shots are very difficult to take. In fact one needs (if it can be attached to your lens) a circular polarisation filter to eliminate the overexposured area's.
With respect to the difficult lighting condtions, a good shot though.

Regards, Cornelius.
