Nice creation. Thats a very clear picture of Io, never seen it that close. doesn't really look like a very hospitiple place. I also read somewhere that Jupiter is mostly gasses.

I really like the picture of Io, it does look very inhospitable. My only suggestion would be to either fade Io a little bit or bring Jupeter into sharper contrast, the difference between the two makes the picture very disjointed. Cheers!

Another treatment you could use on Io would be to use a tight smudge to soften the edges of the moon and to distort its edges. Most of the moons in our solar system have irregularities, and some have slight atmospheres to further distort their edges, but this one is the most tortured celestial body within our telescopic sights. Its close proximity to massive Jupiter produces such a strong gravitational pull on Io that it is rather like a ball of putty. Those forces literally knead the moon, raising and lowering portions of its surface as much as 500 feet in a month's time, causing so many volcanic eruptions that heavy gases are constantly in what constitutes its atmosphere, further distorting our view of its edges. Consequently, Io is deformed by Jupiter so regularly that maps of the moon are out-of-date within 6 months. The reason I have this useless information in my head is because I'm a backyard astronomer and I like the idea that my family plans to use me as a "phone-a-friend" if they ever get on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."

I like that Io photo very much (have read the 2011 Space Odyssey too many times, some might say).
