Spent a week in Alaska in Denali National Park, Anchorage, and Seward. This was shot in Seward. 1/400s at f/7.1 with EF 75-300mm lens @ 300mm. Edit: Forgot to add the vignetting to this picture, which I think adds a nice touch, oops.

I think it is a wonderful clear detailed close up. I don't know about vignetting, but I do think a few tweaks could enhance the portrait of the regal eagle. I tried a few here to see what I thought. I think there is too much space on the opposite side of it's best angle, I would consider flipping the image horizontally, then cropping it closer. Clone and out those rails and blur the rest to resemble a rock ledge instead... : )

Nice find. Lucky you!

I like the 1000 yard stare this bird has, and the fact that it's resting on railing or pipe makes the shot feel more candid.

Two thoughts in terms of constructive criticism. First, the hightlights in his feathers (mostly by the head) seem a bit blown out. Maybe a quick trip to Levels or Curves could help there. Second, the eagle seems to be staring out of the frame, not into, or through it. While granted, I don't know what was out of the frame to your right, a slight pan in that direction to bring the eagle to the left third line might've been better. Well, maybe something to keep in mind for future shots, perhaps?

Thanks for sharing.
