Taken during my June 2008 trip to Ecuador. I was studying Spanish in the city of Cuenca. My professor for culture class said that it is not uncommon for people out in the country to live to around 120 years of age, and 140 is not unheard of. It probably has something to do with the clean air, clean water out of the mountain springs, and a lifetime of manual labor that helps keep the body in shape and metabolism running strong.

Nice kinda journalistic feel to this. The lady looks very old and a wee bit tired. A very unusual wall to the right seems to be made of pebbles. I remember trying to take a picture of a old Mayan lady in Mexico and she wouldn`t let me. Glad you got this! Intresting picture here.

Wonderful image. Such a story in that face. My daughter was in Cuenca for a wedding in January. The photos of this place are beautiful. I love the way you framed this too. Really nice work.

This is an ageless capture as well Kevin. I like the woman is sitting in front of the plain wall and yet the picture is balanced nicely by the pebbles/stones that are on the right. Very fascinating facts you gave also.
Thank you for sharing this with me :=)

Kevin I seen this in the vb and rated it a 10. It really is the best shot of a person I have seen. You can see the wisdom in her face.

All I can say is I wish I could speak Spanish more fluently (or more likely Quichua, the Incan language) just to be able to hear some of the wisdom she might have to offer.

I don't reply much because I'm a really busy guy, but I appreciate all your comments!
