This is a sunrise from my bedroom window. It's why I'm always up early. I find them hard to capture, but this one looks pretty good. This shot is taken at 8,500 feet altitude so the air is pretty clear, I'm looking East and those mountains along the crest are part of the great divide.

Very well done shot... beautiful. When was this taken? Is there still snow there in mid-July?

Well, lots of praise here already, allow me to add mine. This is gorgeous. And if most days are even one-tenth as beautiful, you have got a great spot.

excellent picture . . . I'm from Colorado as well, but I live to the east of the Rockies, so I get to see things like this at sunset instead . . . especially during the summer of 2002--very intense images

No, this actually is a shot from the deck outside our master bedroom. We searched long and hard back in the mid 70's to find a piece of spectacual land we could afford. This was it and then we saved up and built our home there. The clincer was that as we were trying to decide to commint to the purchase of this amazing site, a golden eagle swooped down over our heads and rose spiraling upon a great thermal. That clinched it.

some how I missed ppigeon's comment...coming from you this is high praise. I appreciate it. In fact, thanks to all of you. And Ned, I think we all spent time crawling out of the Jerome Bar late into that snow blown night. I'll have to get a picture of that.

This makes me wonder about my own question. Why every human being can fly but can not land?
İ want to slip into this pic and discover the reasons of the brightness on the horizon..
This is a very good shot. Will not go into the technical comments and ruin this emotionally exciting pic.Very well done... ;)

Very dramatic picture. Well worth getting up early for. Nothing like the daybreak in the Rockies, except maybe sunset.

Wow this is breathtaking! Before I really started to get into Caedes, I had this as my background, and I never recieved the chance to comment on the marvelous capture! The photo and composition are awesome! Great job once again; 10:10 and straight to my favorites! (By the way, where in exactly Colorado was this taken?)

That is .. awesome. very spellbounding when you can still see some detail of the cold, shadowed mountain and then see the new light pouring over the top of the peaks. thats magical.

Oh my goodness, just enough detail in the foreground mountains to set the foundation for the whole work. Gorgeous sunrise. I'm not an early riser but I'd get up for that. I don't know if you have touched it up or not but it sure does look all natural. beautiful capture. High marks.

Thank you, thank you all. One comment if you look closely there is one mountain, slightly to the right of center, which is the 2nd highest mountain in Colorado. It's called Mount Massive and I actually climbed it last September. It was hard to breath on top at 14,425 feet. It took 12 hours up and down. At my age, I'm proud of that accomplishment.
