I've discovered that it is great fun to design fantasy castles in the French style. I looked at lots of castle images then cobbled one of my own design together in 3D. As you can tell I love those towers and turrets. I'm going to have to learn the names of all the parts of a castle. I used Vue 5 Infinite to assemble the composition. It needs work and perhaps a better sky, but I liked the idea of sunset with a flock of eagles. At Hohenwerfen Castel I watched Eagles flying in the winds that blow up around castle walls. Enjoy and please vote on it if that still counts.

Freaking amazing! Peter, I don't know were to start praising your latest creation. The castle is like something from a fairy tale but it still looks believably real. The composition is spot-on. Great use of haze to give it depth, without making the structure or mountains look washed out. I am awestruck by this one. This image is the first in a very, very long time to be added to my favorites. :c)

Stunning image, the lighting is beautiful. The detail in the castle and eagles is amazing and the faint misty foreground takes me into the rest of the piece perfectly. Outstanding work.

This is great. Hope you do more in this vein in the future. Especially like the foggy atmosphere. It makes it a bit mysterious. Perhaps some gallant knights will ride out or maybe there is a beautiful princess in one of the high towers.

IT's hard to say how long it took me to make it as I've been working on it on and off for a while. I'm a bit fussy and never satisfied and the renders take a while. I just posted a different castle "Chateau by the Sea" which is a bit more complex and perhaps as interesting in a very different way. I kept my beloved eagles in the image.
And yes, the artist seclusion act really does pay off. I have to do it when writing a book, so I tried it for art and it works quite as well.

i think the castle is great. i love the attention to detail, and the way the hawks (hawks or falcons--am i even close?) are placed in the image. was there a way to make them a little smaller, or perhaps give them a little bit more of a grey to indicate distance. it's just that, to me, they look remarkebly close. other than that the picture is great--i faved it right away:)
