This is a digital matte painting, much of it done pixel by pixel using only my mouse because my Wacom is in need of repair. When it comes to castles, my imagination seems boundless. I visualized this early 18th century castle sitting high above the sea. I constructed it with an unusual access bridge just for fun. I've rendederd it a little bit like a Jerry Schurr silkscreen(www.jerryschurr.com). He's one of the best. I hope you all like it.

Wow, amazing. I absolutely love castles. Well, architecture in general. It's truly a weakness of mine. Still, castles fascinate me. Beautiful work.

Remarkable, truly remarkable. The bridge had me studying the image for a good while in the VB. Well, it LOOKS like a castle, but... maybe it's industrial? Hmmmm... clicked through to find out what and where. :^D

Hello Peter..what a gorgeous creation this is.The soft muted colours are totally eye catching.Yet the levels of colour are so strong, beginning with the darkest at the foreground onto the pale yellow of the sun and sky.The bridge from the lovely castle to the mountain top is awesome. What a mind you have. Not only to dream about this but then to "build" it...you've done a magnificent job as per usual. It's just beautiful and will be more so even on my desktop, thank youj so much.Verena

Thank you all so much. I didn't mention it but I did build this castle in 3D and rendered a basic image of it and then did the pixel by pixel painting. Much of the final castle was not in the original render, but was painted. This is a good technique because it gives you the color, perspective and atmosphere you need. From there you can select referenc colors in photoshop to paint with. Those colors...like on the castle walls can be used to add to those walls...
