This would be one of those things you see and decide you maybe should take a photo of before it warms up. Though why exactly you're roaming around in the middle of a freezing cold night with a camera when you could be warm and toasty inside is another story altogether. Maybe you locked yourself out because "Snowball", "Mittens", "Mr. Tiddles", or whatever the darn cat is answering to this particular hour absolutely, positively has to go outside even though there are 17 perfectly good litter boxes littering the house. Then you realize you don't even own a cat. That still doesn't explain the camera or how you're going to get back into the house. But at least you have a photo as testimony to your insanity.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

That is one very cool shot, no pun intended(ok maybe a little pun intended). I love the wonderful hummingbird shape on what I assume is a plant hanger and as to why you were outside, I do have a cat so I understand.

I thought the picture was quite interesting and then I read the narrative and found it even more compelling, Wendell. The backlight makes the photo as the back story makes the over-all composition. Both very well done.

What a guy won't use to mix into his nightcap Wendell.
Insomnia is the enemy of sleep.
Good shot and narrative.

I'm not sure how to break the news, Wendell, but I think we're all pretty clear on the state of your sanity without or without this posting. Love the narrative as always, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm seeing here. Are the light areas the result of a flash or backlighting? Looks more like backlighting. Very imaginative work. Probably was the hypothermia setting in which can cause delusional behavior. The black and white was an interesting choice. I'm afraid you don't have much chance of winning the window contest with this posting, but I liked it anyway.

Wendell - Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat [cold], nor gloom of night will keep the hummingbird from its appointed rounds - especially knowing that a loon will be waiting with a camera! Very effective b/w and backlighting. Thad
