Now this is the last thing I expected to see today. I was sitting in the park minding my own business when out of the corner of my eye I spotted the flash of a wing in flight. Well curiosity got the better of my laziness to sit in the shade. So I set off down the trail to investigate. Rounding the corner I find the hunter perched on a branch staring intently at its prey. Now silly me even though I had the camera at the ready I had the wrong lens attached. After a quick swap of lenses the fun began. I spent the better part of an hour snapping shots as the owl displayed its hunting prowess.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

The story is great stuff to read and rofl for that matter. The image is a serious business though. Great effect without any doubt. What was the prey, if I may ask ?
I bet you must have taken some more pics so I would love to see them all those with the wrong lens including.
Thanks for this lovely image, Wendell dear.

Great catch here Wendell - not something one usually sees with an owl.

The owl is perfectly exposed Wendell. He shows up so clear. I envy your fortune in finding that magnificent bird. I've seen them plenty but never when I could capture a picture of them.

They are definitely difficult to spot in the wild, Wendell. The only time I see them is when I don't have a camera.
A really good photo.
