This began with a relief which is embedded in the base of a larger statue in Centennial Park, Nashville. Used a channel mixer adjustment layer for b/w conversion and to increase the contrast. After doing a highly feathered oval selection of the face, I inverted and cut and pasted the outer portion in a new layer. I applied some various texturing to that layer then reduced the opacity down to around 50%. So here you go. Any suggestions?

I think there is a lot that can be read into this, which in itself makes it a worthwhile image. The editing is subtle and only when really enlarges do yu see the couple of slight areas, but on a desktop they are not noticeable. It could be a statue in a wood, or next to an ivy covered wall perhaps. As Joanie says, outstanding imagery, and beautiful.

I like the results of all of your work. It looks three dimensional with the face, neck, and hand coming forward. I truly like your process and look forward to seeing what else you will be creating.

I love your post-work & the end result is wonderful. Love how the statue blends in with the background, but still retains alot of detail. I could actually see this in an art gallery. Magnificent & creative work, Mike. Saved & faved.

Hi, Mike...

Thanks for the informational narrative that accompanied the image. I don't think we use the same software; so I don't have a clue what you described, but it sounds like more work than I do in a month. When I first saw the shot at postage stamp size, I thought it was the back of an old dime. At full size I can see it's really a quarter. :-) Seriously you done some purdy work.

Really nicely done, Mike.

I've not been that creatively courageous to venture into the Channel Mixer B & W conversion realm. (Tricky stuff.)

Good good tonalities throughout, and the DOF does add much to your image here.
