I mentioned a week ago about our visit to Lake Alpine along Highway 4 in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We were there only 2 minutes when we saw 2 bald eagles flying in the distance of about 2000 feet from us. We got out our binoculars and watched them fly around in the distance then one disappeared and the other landed on this old dead tree. We ever so cautiously moved closer and closer to him and then I did what I love to do, put my cell phone camera up to the binocular lens and take a picture. Obviously it's not to be expected to be a great image but it's still fun to see him/her up close. We watched it for 15 minutes then he flew away to directly across from us and the other eagle came and that's when the fun started. They began to sweep the water surface looking for fish. You could see the water splashing as they tried several times to catch one and eventually one did and then went off into a high tree and we could see him bobbing his head as if he was eating the fish he had just caught. It was magical!! Enjoy if you can:) My contribution for the SNATM theme here: here
