https://www.matson.com/ship-your-car-with-matson-2.html I came across this yesterday while inspecting a property in Oakland. A bit rusty but still afloat evidently:):) thanks for looking.
Bruce, you've depicted the con-ro (both container and roll-on) ship 'Lurline'. Her (as ships are female) IMO number is 9814600 (IMO stands for International Maritime Organization). She was built at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego in 2019, and was delivered in 2020. The 'Lurline' is 870 feet long, 114 feet wide (beam), with a deep draft of 38 feet. She can achieve a speed of 23 knots. The 'Lurline' is a 3,500 TEU vessel platform, but part of that capacity is taken up by an enclosed garage with room for approximately 500 vehicles, plus rolling stock and break bulk cargo.
The 'Lurline' also features a fuel-efficient hull design, environmentally safe double hull fuel tanks, fresh water ballast systems and the Tier 3 dual fuel engine.
PS: the abbreviation TEU stands for 'Twenty foot Equivalent Unit'. It's used internationally to indicate the capacity of a container ship. Such a 20-foot shipping container (6.10 meters long) is always used as a standard size. But in practice, container ships are fully loaded with the longer, better known to the public, 40-foot container. Of these, only half fit on the 'Lurline': '1,750 pieces.
A very nice and (to me) interesting picture, Buddy!
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!
