Many of Venice’s grand buildings are vacant or run down – they are simply too expensive to maintain. There are also strict laws as to what redecoration and restoration can be carried out to the buildings, especially those fronting the Grand Canal.

It has always amazed me to see these canals. I dont understand how houses could be in water...is the bottom level lived in or not? This has such a charm about it..very nice!!

A different world, a good photo. I really like the angles you pick up on in this. Great color, too.

Honestly, I am not surprised that some of the buildings may be just vacant. On the contrary I am surprised that so many are still occupied ! This is something very difficult for a citizen of a regular [= ground located] town to imagine. OK if it in the summer and you are late, just jump and swim but what is one supposed to do otherwise - wait for water taxi = gondola ?! LOL You must know what sort of people do live in the buildings and how they solve such daily matters.
As usually 10/10 and on my HD.

Blaz - When looking at pictures I always wonder, where the photographer had to position himself to get the shot. Looks like you were floating right above the canal. Is there a platform or a bridge there? Is there another window there? However you got there, Im glad that you made the effort. The picture is self explainatory because it tells a story. Nice work. Please do more.

I already been in Venice is a very beautiful and a good place to make excellents photos, but the big problem of some this little streets with water is the smell this are stoped waters that some times got a bad smell.
Luckly photos don't have smell.

Congratulations Blaz, you have done great photos of Venice.
