I decided to treat myself to one more toy for the year, so I bought a "stereo microscope." The difference between the microscope I had is a stereo microscope allows you to examine 3 dimensional objects such as insects, flower petals, coins, stamps, gems, etc. The one I have goes up to 80X magnification, where as my bright field microscope which is used to view micro organisms goes up to 2500X magnification and is primary used to view extremely small objects like bacteria, blood cells and so on. Although you could use the bright field microscope to view leaves and such, it doesn't do a decent job of it as a stereo microscope would. This is a capture of some salt crystals I took a short time ago. This is half the magnification of the scope. If I double it, you wouldn't really make out what it was.

Alex, thought initially (by not reading your narrative yet) that you had provide us with a capture from the Antarctic showing us the breaking of a huge ice floe in four quarters.
'Cool' microscopic view however.

It does look like something from the frozen north Alex.
Good use of your new purchase.

Such beautiful colours visible when magnified

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
