I can imagine this will go straight into the "Lonely images" folder. For those who like a backstory to a picture, this is for you. These look like ordinary train tracks, which they are, but to me they helped define my childhood. When I was a kid, once in a blue moon we would take the 500 mile trip north to Baraga, MI. As some of you know most of my family was from there. I say most as many have passed on but my heritage will always be there. Having spent most of my time down state in Detroit, getting to spend time in a small town such as this, where you could ride your bike and not worry about getting mugged or worse, and to go down to these tracks and place pennies on them, then the next day find them completely smooched next to the tracks. To go down to the foot of the bay and catch polywogs and have Lampreys latch onto you. Being exposed to people much different than you, and at times speaking a strange language you didn't understand, but in a way it didn't matter. Me and my mom doing wash at the laundromat next to the tracks down a ways from this shot. Just not to be scared, that's what really had an impact on who I am today. I apologise for being so reminiscent. I think I'm going through Man o pause. LOL!! This image was taken around 1977.

I'll try to help keep if from the lonely images Alex.
Great story about your childhood and there is nothing wrong in having fond memories and wanting to visit them from time to time.
There are two tracks pictured, so at least you don't have a one track mind. 😀

I remember as a child the time my mom and I rode a train from the middle of Alabama to Atlanta, Georgia. Since that time the railway station has become a museum. My grandpa and grandma lived within 800 feet of a train track in Springville, Alabama. So I understand your nostalgia, Alex. My story was really about the late '50s. Thank you for your post.

An old photo that brings back all those memories for you. Interesting and sentimental narrative Alex.

With this one you've perfectly visualized the nostalgic mood as described in your narrative, Alex. Wish you success in going through your 'man o pause' (good word play), 😜 !
