This is a highly edited version of a not very good snap from my time in America almost 4 years ago. I put it through an HDR filter and have also tweaked the levels not to mention changing it to black and white to try and get as much texture from the bricks as i could. Let me know what you think. Critiques always welcome :)

Similar comment here..Wor-Lass has just muttered the words..The Dam Hoover!! .. cos it was full!! lol

Amazing detail in the concrete blocks!..a good perspective too..if I had a criticism, which I don't!...it would be to lighten the darker tones a tad!

Rachel, I have seen many pics. of this dam but never made the trip to see it in person. The choice of black and white is very good, and I think you did a pretty good job of bringing out the details. I hope you enjoyed your visit to the states.

A very good outcome here Rachel! A bit dark yes,but otherwise nicely crafted:)

I think you have done a brilliant job bringing out the textures of the bricks in the dam, but also the rock-face it was built into. Excellent choice of B&W too. Well done!

To me your attempt was successful, Rachel. Great textures now indeed. Well done!

I'm very disappointed, Rachel. You were less than 7 hours from my place, and you didn't stop by for burgers and fries.

Wonderful shot. I like the B&W although the contrast seems a might heavy to me. Keep in mind that most of my shots are critiqued for having too little contrast; so take that comment with a grain of salt. Every time I've been here it's 115°F (46°C). Makes you wonder what it was like to construct this masterpiece.

A fine shot and a worthy entry.

A nice perspective following the curve of the dam. I like the contrasts in the light and shadows in this b/w presentation. Perhaps a tad too dark in the shadows.
