Hi,my name is Rob..ok, so I'm not the greatest at replies and comments. Sorry. For anyone needing to contact me, my email is back up in my profile. >> my cluttered mess of a gallery
Fantastic shot Jan - just brilliant! It was so worth the early morning (late night?) effort. Can't help with the building though - we were up near Tower Bridge not so long ago - so a bit away from the Eye!
Exposure, colour and clarity are just brilliant. A definite 10 from me if I get this one in the voting booth!
Yup...and I love it too and everyone has already told you why..in fact, I think it looks festive enough to put in my holiday rotating file..thanks for putting in the effort :)PJ
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way
"To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
~ Henri Cartier-Bresson
The taller building on the left is the London headquarters of Shell oil company. Further to the left of that is an apartment building called The White House - this used to form part of the Shell headquarters. The building on the right with the chimneys is the old County Hall building which houses a Marriott hotel, the Namco center, an aquarium, a Chinese restaurant and an art gallery.
Brilliant pic Jan, on a recent day trip to London I tried producing a similar pic, but it was nowhere near this good. I like the way the eye is right in the middle of the pic too, I'm fussy like that! An all round great shot, well done! Paul :-)
I found this at an ungodly hour of the morning, and like you, I am quite pleased. The composition is excellent. The colors, vibrant and the focus is crystal clear. I am particularly drawn to the early morning twilight. Like the icing on a cake, it puts a delicious finish on this work of art.
Wow Jan, 25 months later, I find this image on the front page...how the hell-o did I miss this beauty? The purple color just "pops' out so the viewer is almost forced to gaze into the image.
The reflection is what makes this outstanding IMO...the other buildings have just enough light on them that they are visible but definitely do not overwhelm the central subject (nor the viewer:)
I am so glad I saw this and many thanks for sharing this with me. to my favorites folder it goes :o)
