Due to boredom, rain, no sun, dark days... lol experimenting with portraits of my small person! if anyone has any good hints let me know as im not very experienced in portraits apart from the usual family snappy type thing! inspired by steven to try and produce something which wasnt a snapshot!

Hey Jan,
I like the monochrome effect a lot, suits the image perfectly,
I also love the expression on Annie's face, so tender, so soft,
Certainly a step farther than family snapshots, (~8
No real hints here, perhaps just the hard shadow under her face (flash?), or maybe the harsh lightning, nothing to really complain about but since you're asking, (~88~)
Nicely done,

Thanks for sharing
Warm regards
Tim

Well I don't see how anyone could qualify this as a snapshot! I think it's really very nice, smooth and an overall great portrait. Very well done!

I don`t do portraits either so I can`t be of any help, but I think this is a good job. Certainly not a snapshot!

I think Steven could give you some tips. It appears as though he uses a soft blur. This is a good beginning Jan and a very nice pose.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Nice shot Jen. There is a bit of hard light on the forehead. Try softening the light next time by covering the flash with a cut out of your nylon stockings!
