The first of my "Urbanization" contest entries...This one is done in Photoshop to resemble a street mural you'd see on the side of a building or solid structure in an urban environment...The murals always establish some sort of theme or meaning, and are usually the better and more serious works of street artists, sometimes a collabiration of two to four individuals...Often, these works of art become recognized by the local community and city governments, and are considered a breach of ordinance if defaced. When caught, violators can sometimes face stiff fines and/or hours of community service ...including repairing the damage done, under supervision of the police AND the original artist(s)...See Also: Little Monstas...

Great shot Ron and the informative narrative is really interesting. I hope you do well, but there's no doubt you will. I think it's great they do this with the graffiti. Nice post and good luck.

This is a great piece of work, you did here. It reminds me on a kind of online-adventure. She is a witness, the detective has to talk to ...

A really fine job on this one. I think you have been inspired by this urban contest thing. Great idea, well executed.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Boy, this new contest is right up your alley Ron as so many of your images are exactly that, depictions of various facets of city life...of your two entries, I like this one best as it seems to have a dual theme...the wall mural often seen on city buildings plus someone 'sitting on the stoop' of an old brownstone typical of a hot summer's night in a crowded, city neighborhood...great work and Good Luck in the contest!

Pat took the words right out of my mout..

Ok, ok ... I am not as observant as she is, but I would wholeheartedly agree that the integration of the archetypal scene out on the stoop and the wall art ... makes this a very strong piece Ron.

Well balanced composition, colourful ... and the texturing of the bricks coming through is done well.

And since I have you here (hope you don't mind) ... think you could kick up "Little Monstas" by 'pulling out the shot' a bit and providing some more context for your wall art in that piece. Don't want to go any further on that analysis or make any further suggestions ... other than this as a possibility ... is that Karla I see on the street?? (a la "Karla and the Monsta" ;o) )

Just some thoughts, 'tis all.

Good luck to you. :o)
